Brazilian author Jacques Fux selected for the Creative Residency program in Vilnius

Vilnius UNESCO City of Literature is delighted to announce the selection of Jacques Fux for the Creative Residency Program, scheduled for December 1–31, 2025.

Jacques Fux won the 2013 São Paulo Prize for Literature—often called the Brazilian equivalent of the Man Booker Prize—for his debut novel. He holds degrees in mathematics and computer science, along with two doctorates: one in Comparative Literature and another in Langue, Littérature et Civilisations Françaises. From 2012 to 2014, he was a visiting scholar at Harvard University. To date, he has published 20 books—including children’s literature, essays, and novels—several of which have been translated into Italian, Spanish, and Hebrew.

Jacques Fux was selected for his distinguished literary background and his proposed project to explore themes of migration, displacement, and cultural assimilation through the life of famous Brazilian artist of Lithuanian descent, Lasar Segall, aiming to weave a narrative between Vilnius and Rio de Janeiro Cities of Literature.
