The Professors’ House (Tauras St 10) shows the history of the interwar period and the Soviet occupation, reflecting the attitudes and choices of people who worked in culture, science, and the arts in turbulent times. The house also shows the modernisation of Vilnius and, the development of the city, and reveals processes in the modernisation of the residential infrastructure. In the guided tour of the Professors’ House, you will learn about modernisation processes in Vilnius between 1870 and 1940, you will find out why the Professors’ House is considered to be the perfect example of modern architecture in Vilnius, and you will get a closer look at the architecture of the building. During the tour, you will hear the story of how the building at Tauras St 10 became the Professors’ House, what everyday life was like for the academics who lived there, and about their interpersonal relationships.
